Letra (versão de Anita O’Day)
I'm a glum one, that it's explainable
I've met someone, unattainable
Life's a bore, the world is my oyster, no more
All the papers, where I lead the news
With my capers, now will spread the news
Superwoman turned out to be a flash-in-the-pan
I've flown around the world in a plane
I've settled revolutions in Spain
And the North Pole I have charted
Can't get started with you
Upon a golf course I'm under par
And all the movies how ask me to star
I've got a house there is a show place
Can't get no place with you
You're so supreme
Lyrics that I write of you
Scheme, just for a sight of you
How I dream both day and night of you
And what good does it do
In 1929, I sold short
Over an England, I'm presented at court
But you've got me so down hearted,
Can't get started with you
When we first met,
How you elated me.
Pet, you devastated me.
Yet, now you've deflated me
'Til you're my Waterloo
I've sold my kisses at a bazaar
And after me they've named a cigar
With kings and queens …
Can't get started with you

Letra (versão de Sammy Davies)
I've been around the world in a plane
I've settled revolutions in Spain
The North Pole I have charted
But I can't get started with you
I am on a golf course I'm under par
And Eddy Murphy has ask me to star
I've got a house, and a showplace,
but still I can’t get no place with you
You're so supreme, lyrics I write of you
Scheme, just for a sight of you
They scream both day and night of you,
But what good does it do?
I am on a golf course I am rather short
And when I go to England I asked me to court
I am so down hearted 'cause I can't get started with you
You're so supreme, lyrics I write of you
Scream, Just for a sight of you
And they scheme both day and night for you,
But what good does it do?
In 1929, I sold short
And all the troubles I’ve had I never went to court
I’ve got me so down hearted,
'Cause I can't get started with you
Billie Holiday (Filadélfia, 07-04-1915 — New York, 17-07-1959) – Com Billie Holiday (vocal), Buck Clayton (trompete), Lester Young (saxofone tenor), Margaret "Queenie" Johnson (piano), Freddy Green (guitarra), Walter Page (contrabaixo), Joe Jones (bateria), em New York, dia 15 de Setembro de 1938.
Letra (versão de Billie Holiday)
I've been around the world in a plane
Settled revolutions in Spain
The North Pole I have charted
But can't get started with you
And at the golf course I'm under par
Metro-Goldwyn wants me to star
I've got a house and a show place
But can't get no place with you
You're so supreme
The lyrics I write of you
Dream, dream, day and night of you
Scheme, just for the sight of you
Baby but what good does it do?
I've been consulted by Franklin D.
… had me to tea
But now I'm broken hearted
Can't get started with you
When first we met,
How you elated me.
Pet, you devastated me.
Yet, now you've deflated me
'Til you're my Waterloo
…
Can't get started with you
Lamento, algumas eventuais falhas nas letras, encontradas na Internet, devido à própria improvisação dada pelos seus intérpretes, e muitas vezes de difícil entendimento. (Ricardo Santos)
